| Veterinary Profession Under Scrutiny - BBC1 Panorama "It Shouldn't Happen At a Vets" |
|
Many of our members have contacted us regarding concerns about the recent Panorama programme "It Shouldn't Happen At a Vets". The programme contained disturbing scenes of gross professional misconduct which were secretly filmed in branches of the Medivet corporation.
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), the regulatory body of veterinary professionals has issued a statement to reassure pet owners that: "there is a rigorous and robust regulatory process in place for the veterinary profession" You can read updates and responses from the RCVS on their website at: The team at Vital Pet Health would like to reassure our members that as in any profession, the actions of a few do not represent the profession as a whole. Our team of vets have dedicated their professional lives to the health and welfare of animals as have most individuals in this respected profession. We urge pet owners who have any concerns about their animals health to have confidence in seeking professional veterinary advice. Trust is an essential part of the relationship with your vet and you should feel comfortable with discussing any aspect of your pets treatment with your them.
