Paul Manktelow.  Neutering refers to the surgical sterilisation of animals so that they can’t reproduce.  In males it is also known as castration and describes surgical removal of the testicles.  In females it is commonly referred to as “spaying” and describes surgical removal of the uterus and the ovaries.
