Pyometra

Paul Manktelow.  Pyometra is a serious and potentially life threatening disease of the entire female.  It most commonly occurs in dogs but can also occur in cats, ferrets, rabbits and other domestic pets.  It is essentially an infection of the uterus and its name literally means “pus in the uterus”.  The course of the disease is rapid and an animal with a pyometra can deteriorate very rapidly with potentially fatal consequences if left untreated.
